A six-time Public & Private Equity technology CEO, Mr. Greenfield has a track record as an enterprise software and technology enabled data services specialist over more than 4 decades, also serving on over 20 Public & Private Equity Boards of Directors. As a leader, his results include multiple exits generating more than $5 billion for investors through expertise in setting overall strategy – both the product roadmap and GTM – and implementation of unified business strategies to deliver both organic and inorganic growth.
With expertise that goes beyond the “hard science” of creating winning products and setting a successful strategy, Mr. Greenfield is recognized for team building and CEO mentoring/coaching with a style which allows a CEO to lead while regarding him as a valuable resource and active Board member.
He joined Court Square Capital Partners as an Investment Partner in 2013, and is an Executive Advisor as of April 2020. Mr. Greenfield actively works with established PE-backed and public companies, as well as more hands-on opportunities through his firm, Zagent, where he provides services such as Executive Director or Interim CEO, as well as consulting and deal advisory. Mr. Greenfield stepped in as Interim CEO at Sectigo to accelerate the transformation of the business and identify the new CEO, as well as served as the Advisor to the Board of Euna Solutions, working closely with the investment team and interim CEO. He recently re-joined Avid as Executive Chairman in its transition from Public to Private, and became a Senior Executive Advisor to GI Partners in 2024.
Previously, Mr. Greenfield was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avid where he returned the firm to industry leadership in technology for digital media and entertainment from 2007 to 2013. In his role as Operating Partner of Francisco Partners, he was CEO of GXS where from 2003 to 2007 where he led the transformation of this major B2B provider processing multi-billion dollars in transactions into a global managed services leader.
In a landmark role, Mr. Greenfield was hired as CEO of Peregrine Systems, to restructure this leading provider of consolidated asset and service management software out of crisis, which became the first public enterprise-software company to emerge from bankruptcy. His prior roles were at MERANT (formerly INTERSOLV) from 1987 - 2001 where he served in various senior roles eventually being named CEO. Grew the firm to establish a long-term profit-making product mix and market leadership positions in each of their strategic segments, ultimately leading the company to be acquired by Micro Focus.
Mr. Greenfield has extensive Board experience, currently serving as a Director for Avid (Executive Chairman), Ancile Solutions, Canto, Donnelly Financial Solutions, Euna Solutions, Thrive Networks, and Velosio (Executive Chairman), with previous service on the Board of Directors of the following companies : Aderant (Chairman), AFS Technologies, Amisys Managed Care Systems, Avid Technology, Diebold Nixdorf (Chairman), Dynata, Encompass Digital Media, Epocrates, Frontrange Solutions, GXS, Hyperion Solutions, Intellitactics (Chairman), Managed Objects, Mobius Management Systems, Rocket Software, Sectigo, Vocus, and Novell.
Additionally, he served as the Chairman of the Information Technology Association.
